J. Antonio Guzmán Q.
Research Scientist, Department of Organismic and Evolutionary Biology, Harvard University
Dr. J. Antonio Guzmán’s interests are in linking plant ecophysiology and remote sensing. Antonio aims to better understand the dynamics of ecosystems and to meaningfully contribute environmental management by using remote sensing. He is passionate about data, technology, open software, and its applications for the public benefit.
He is currently developing the HERBSHARE database initiative for linking spectra to herbarium specimens and prediction of traits. He is has led projects on detection of oak wilt using remote sensing techniques. He is passionate about data, technology, and open-software and its application for the public benefit. He received Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in biology from public universities in his home country of Costa Rica, and a Ph.D. in Earth and Atmospheric Sciences from the University of Alberta, Canada.
