Dawson White
Postdoctoral Research Fellow, Harvard University Herbaria, Department of Organismic and Evolutionary Biology, Harvard University
Dawson is a plant systematist and taxonomic expert of the Coca family of plants. He studies how variation in leaf spectral reflectance is related to genetic variation and uses spectroscopy to classify leaves into taxonomic groups and reconstruct the evolutionary history of plant phenotypes and function. A special focus of his research is leveraging reflectance spectra from herbarium specimens. He is currently a postdoc at Harvard University Herbaria and has been helping to lead the International Herbarium Spectral Scanning (IHerbSpec) Working Group.
